With the nico fans incessantly refreshing/reloading the bad apple shadow style vid daily, just so they can drop in nonsense messages like “this is my 3rd time today!”, the godly bad apple video has just crossed the 4.5 million views within 1 and a half month (ha! take that miku fans!!), wktkP, known for his 3rd MMD cup miku’s favor PV, has blessed touhou fans with another wonderful PV to add to the nico touhou PV collection. The fascinatingly well-orchestrated MMD touhou battle video is accompanied by touhou doujin-music circle Syrufit’s hit, Arc of Dream. 

Samples of the video up to sample 29 had been uploaded continuously on wktkP’s zoome page for nearly 2 months, until early December when only sample 12 (approximately half of the video) is left to invite serious drooling from hardcore fans.    The final verison of the video was finally uploaded on Sunday.  2-months time was definitely quite a bit of waiting, but after seeing the final product, all I can say is that it was well-worth it!!  

The video features mainly reimu in battle with remilia, with marisa appearing for a short moment towards the end, in what seems to be a slightly abrupt wrap up of the video.. as the comiket76 PV version of the song used is only 2:59 minutes.  Nonetheless, the video is sure to please touhou fans as it has already garnered more views than wktkP’s last works.

OMG, JUST LOOK AT MARISA!!!  Omochikaeri~~  .. supposing the person huggling marisa (nooot fair! let me hug her tooo ><) is not a child, Gift online shop’s new touhou nuigurumi (plush) series EX, which includes Marisa and Reimu, are huge and sooo adorable!!!  Forget the trouble of getting a spouse to manifest a loli, you can just buy these!!   They probably don’t talk much, but that’s besides the point.  Either way, these are definitely a must-have, if possible, for touhou fans as well as fans of cuteness!  Never mind the inferior nendroid plus series hatsune miku and hatchune miku plushies released earlier in August by Gift online with a 2nd production line out this month, these plushies are so much better!!  I mean, these giant plushies (70 cm while sitting down) potentially sends all the once-trendy otakus going around town with their dakimakura girlfriends out of fashion!! 

Come Friday November 13, 2009 21:00 JPT and the touhou EX series will be available for pre-ordering on Gift online shop.. now I gotta figure out how to get my perv hands on them. The shipping fare must be huge.. >_<

The item pages are up on gift online shop site and the price tags on these EX series plushies are a hefty 29,800 yen (that’s 459 SGD, or 331 USD)  Personally, I’m willing to pay that much for these, a rl loli would cost more.. but the question is how to get these without using vpost (I ended up paying about 60 usd more on my akg k 701 earlier this year thanks to their wonderful service).. ..and if they fit into the regular size parcel boxes XD.

Gift’s Kanegon san also announced a couple of other new touhou plushies lineups (not EX series though) to be released in the upcoming comiket77 (Dec 29~31), along with the new nendroid plus series 4 and 5, Kagamine Rin/Ren respectively….  

Time to start bugging hobby search or your favorite sites to get them for pre-ordering. ^^

• Well, not much in terms of vocaloid news anyway:There have been news of Yamaha to be releasing 3 new vocaloids soon, as well as a new vocaloid to be released in December from saihate’s author, onyxP, named Miki (possible voice samples by furukawa miki and already has an MMD model in the making) for a christmas album to be released next week November 18, 2009.

On the wee hours of Tuesday, 27 October 2009, niconicodouga user Anira uploaded what may probably be the best “bad apple!! ft nomico” touhou PV EVER. The video views now races towards 200k views with 45k+ favorites at nico, while the highest viewed youtube mirror will probably go over 20k tonight. .. surprisingly I still see comments suggesting that some people who’d go around watching touhou vids have not heard of bad apple!! before………….. hard to believe..   That aside, the video was so impressive, even the circle Alstroemeria Records, responsible for the touhou arrange of reimu’s bgm, “Bad Apple!! feat nomico” in their August 2007 lovelight album, blogged on the video at their website.

The song itself is already a huge hit among touhou fans and various popular promotional videos (PV) have been made with it, but the video features a very stylish shadow art composition, utilizing beautiful shape transitions to illustrate different popular touhou characters throughout the shortened version of the song.  It was completely unique from the other PV and that’s probably got a lot of niconico people going crazy all over it.  I have no idea what software or how it was created, perhaps someone can enlighten me…
All i know is that God probably had some spare time.

Oh, and flan-chan’s definitely happy.. she’s got an awesome part in the video.

As awesome as this video was, it actually had very humble beginning.
The original idea was actually conceived by NND user ”MMM” since June 2008 in this video (nm3601701).  Unfortunately, I cannot find any youtube uploads for it at the time of this post – nor for the hysterical comparison version of the 2 videos (sm8630663).

The original video was basically a 3 min 33 s simple hand-sketched storyboard playing along the shortened version of bad apple!! with a message saying “the uploader wants to see this (PV made).”  The author had various ideas, which were, for most parts, followed accurately in the final product above. 

Below are some of the screen caps from the original video, some nico ppl have taken a liking to call it the “legendary original video”, with simple translations in red.

Here we see reimu catching a falling apple..  that’s her hand by the way, what are you think you perv?

That is not a meat patty, no, it’s marisa flying in the evening sky while eating the apple she stole from reimu..

To be honest, I totally rolled on the floor over this… those 3 “ovals” there are the prismriver sisters performing the violin, trumpet, and keyboard.

Far from a godly beginning, albeit with some very good PV sense, to the final product we see here… it’s really amazing if you ask me.
